Here’s a list of common questions we get from first-timers. We hope to see you at the table!
Are beginners allowed?
Yes, beginners are encouraged! Playing in a low-stakes poker game is a great way to develop basic poker skills and awareness. We are a very welcoming community to new players, so don’t feel intimidated. Have a seat, get a drink and make new friends!
How much does it cost to play?
By definition, a freeroll poker tournament is free to play. And our league, Freeroll Atlanta Poker, is exactly that – always free to play.
What can I win?
Even though it’s free to play, you are competing for your chance to win some great prizes. The prizes vary by venue and night, but generally speaking you are playing for some combination of the following:
- Real cash
- House cash (gift cards or gift certificates only valid at the restaurant)
- Chance to win a trip to Vegas
What kind of poker do you play?
We play tournament style No Limit Texas Hold ‘em Poker. Each player starts with the same amount of chips, and the game ends when the last player has all the chips, or the last two players decide to chop(split the winnings). There are no buy-backs in tournament play.
Can I buy more chips?
You can receive an additional 1,000 for each drink and 2,000 for any entrée. Some venues will promote a drink that will usually cost about $10 and will receive 3,000 chips. Buying restaurant staff a drink will get you 2,000 chips.
What’s the blind schedule?
Blinds start at 100/200 and go up every 15 or 20 minutes depending on the venue. After five blind levels, there will be a 10 minute break at which all chip ups will end. At that point you may order one last time for extra chips, then no more chips can be bought.
How long does the game last?
It varies, but typically the tournament will last ~3 hours. Of course, if you get eliminated before that time, it only lasts as long you stayed in the game!
